On average most people require 8 hours sleep at night, some need less, maybe 7 hours. Many people find that their sleep is less than what they need, often the stress and anxiety of life, or disturbances cause them to exist on less than their required sleep hours. Say 6 hours sleep instead of 7. There are problems linked to reduced sleep such as, stress, feeling irritable, inability to concentrate, fatigue, possible weight gain and changes in your immune system. Everyone can cope with occasionally losing sleep, but when it becomes a regular occurrence, you already know its time to take action. You are aware when you have experienced a really good quality nights sleep, you just feel good.

When you sleep at night you experience Rapid Eye Movement or REM sleep, and in this part of your sleep cycle you are able to reprocess emotions and thoughts from the previous day by dreaming. Another important stage of sleep is the deep Delta state when you body and mind are able to repair and heal. When your sleep cycle is disturbed, this can effect both mental and physical health.
