Being happy is a state of mind that you can control. There are practical things you can do to be happier and there are also ways of thinking that will make you happier.
The first thing to do is make time for yourself to do what makes you happy. For me it may be painting my nails or salsa dancing. What ever you enjoy fill your life with time for you.
Next make sure you think positively, monitor your own thoughts and if you catch yourself thinking negatively, turn it around.
“It’s Monday I’m so tired, I just don’t want to go to work” STOP “ What can I do today to be happy at work, who can I have a laugh with, who can I make smile”
Think every day of all the things you are grateful for.
Listen to uplifting music.
Exercise – make it something you enjoy, a walk in the countryside works well. Exercise has been shown to be effective in treating depression.
Plan fun things to do this year, sporting events, trips, holidays, places to visit, people to reconnect with.
